  • General Responsibilities

    Job Purpose

     

    The Cloud Technology Architect’s responsibilities will include directing and managing new and existing cloud based technology within a global enterprise multi-cloud framework. The Cloud Technology Architect will support all cloud and hybrid application migrations and deployments.

     

    Key Result Areas

    • Work closely with IT resources, LOB and delivery organizations and selected partners to ensure our cloud environment is designed, tested and automated to support key infrastructure goals
      • Development within multiple cloud stacks to include DEVOPS, Hyper converged and legacy hybrid integration
      • Accessibility – End users, application to application, partners, internal users and locations.
      • Communications – A robust connectivity model supporting full horizontal and vertical data flows.
      • Resource Management and Governance – Fully automated resource allocation and tracking.
      • Security – End to end security model, from all access points, VPCs, Regions and external connections
      • Data Management – Use cases for allocation, lifecycle management, High availability / DR and edge delivery.
      • Reporting – Maintain a robust utilization and reporting infrastructure
      • Compute – Modeling of compute environments, scaling, elastic growth, AMI development and management, OS standardization and hardening, versioning with DEVOPS platforms.
    • Ensure that applications, transactions, workflows and communications processes are implemented to the highest performance and security standards allowing rapid implementation approval and adoption
    • Take a leadership role in completing formal RFP/Project Management documentation creation and analysis for lines of business and IT
    • Work directly with our Integration Factory, Data Modeling and Cloud Networking teams to ensure a consistent, maintainable cloud application environment
    • Evangelize the capabilities cloud technologies such as AWS, fabric and open source services, containers and environment automation bring to empowering lean and flexible cloud, including operations modelling and support processes.
    • Work with internal clients, IT Teams and vendor partners to understand their applications and suitability for migration to the cloud
    • Determine overall capabilities that are required to enable Hertz business units in our adoption of the cloud
    • Assess cloud service provider solutions that meet the needs of clients, Business Architecture, COEs and the executive team
    • Design and architect cloud, application and microservice solutions independent of vendors
    • Perform GAP analysis and vendor service evaluations
    • Match solutions to business requirements and assist with environment outsourcing management
    • Ensure that designs and solutions meet all internal Hertz standards and requirement, document and present to the Integration Group.
    • Be familiar with basic SWOT analysis, ROI and NPV of business processes
    • Assist in overall Cloud adoption using techniques such as MoSCoW for continuous prioritization
    • Work with developers and the wider engineering teams to overcome technical issues
    • Define patterns and archetypes for cloud solutions with emphasis to allow organization adoption of cloud technology
    • Other duties as assigned

    Mandatory Requirements

    Educational Background:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or math related degree highly desired or equivalent work experience.

    Professional Experience:

    • At least 4 years experience in senior hands-on scripting programming
    • 6+ years experience in solution architecture in development and/or infrastructure organizations
    • Proficient in modern automation and tagging methodologies
    • Cloud environment deployment using scripts and the CLI (AWS preferred, Azure desired)
    • Cloud Access methodology design and deployment for end user and B to B use cases
    • Environment assessment using layered logging and monitoring tools (infrastructure through End-User Access)

    Knowledge:

    • Knowledge of the AWS administrative process (API, CLI, Console, Applications)
    • Knowledge of the AWS development, deployment and operations environment
    • Working knowledge of material required for the AWS Architecture certification (Associate-required) (Professional – strong desired)
    • Deep understanding of cloud services and solutions
    • Experience working within large global organizations
    • Experience in managing delivery of complex technology solutions
    • Experience working in a matrix management model, utilizing virtual teams
    • Experience with the networking, performance, security and operational aspects of the AWS environment as used by DEVOPS teams

    Skills:

    • Ability to forge strong relationships and build a wide network throughout the company
    • Familiarity with Docker and Aurora or Redshift
    • AWS or Azure certification a plus
    • Familiarity with the following compliance standards: Sarbanes Oxley, HIPAA, PCI in relation to cloud migration
    • Familiarity with high availability and disaster recovery processes
    • Experience with security best practices for cloud applications and infrastructure
    • Expert in leading large global data migrations and integration efforts.
    • Expert in leading technical migration, data integration and consolidation activities from traditional to cloud data structures.
